Judy Leasure

leasureJudy loves the challenge of painting animals—of capturing their spirit and personality. Whenever she paint, she is captivated by how the careful use of color and value can create a realistic rendering of three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional surface.

Judy’s work is done in pastel. Working in pastels is an organic experience, nothing comes between her and the painting. The pastel stick, with colors which are rich, pure and stable, becomes an extension of her fingers.

In January of 2012, she was elected to membership in the Pastel Society of America as a Juried Associate Member. She is a Signature Member of the Central Pennsylvania Pastel Society as well. Judy’s work has been exhibited in national level shows, including the Degas Pastel Society and the North Florida Pastel Society, as well as local and regional shows. In addition to exhibits and commissioned work, Judy teaches from her home studio, and at various regional painting retreats.

“Working in a representational style works best for me as I focus on animals, still life, and florals.”
