Title:

Berge Missakian's paintings invite the viewer into a wonderful world of color and motion, merging discord with harmony, often inspired by the throbbing tempo of jazz that continuously vibrates his studio. His complex compositions are boldly painted in brilliant Fauve colors, with strokes that are linear but always casual and fluid. His whimsical work blends striking notes of Matisse, Braque, Picasso and Chagall in such a personal way that they become both an homage as well as a signature style for him. Like a good drum soloist improvising on a well known melody, Missakian tries to get his viewers to see familiar objects in a new way, by fine tuning his lines and forms.

Through the years, his paintings have garnered numerous solo exhibitions nationally and internationally and can be found in many private and corporate collections across Canada, the United States, Europe, Australia, Japan and the Middle East. Currently living and working in Montreal, this contemporary Canadian artist is listed in Who's Who In American Art - Millennium Edition and Biennial Guide to Canadian Artists. He was also featured on the cover of The Artist's Magazine, March 1997 issue.

Missakian's art is very popular. Please let us know if you would like to be notified by email when his oil paintings become available for sale.

"His motion is contagious, spilling from canvas to canvas, even infecting a handful of landscape paintings that vibrate within their frames" - Mary Ellen Riddle, Art Beat, The Coast (The Virginian Pilot), Nags Head, NC, USA.

"His reputation is established. Missakian's fame and the maturity of his work cross oceans. His art carries no message and courts no favor from the art world. Instead, like jazz, it pulsates and swirls around us. Always improvisational and expressive, it presents multiple rhythms, life situations, and exuberant allegories" - Lise Goulet, Columnist Magazin' Art, International Edition Gallery Magazine, Toronto, Canada
