Morgan Dennis was an etcher, illustrator, writer and lecturer who was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1892. For many years he lived in Key West, Florida. He attended the New School of Design in Boston, in Provincetown, RI, he studied etching and in England he studied painting. Mr. Dennis worked for ten years for Boston newspapers until drawing dogs became his main interest. His dog illustrations appeared in many well known magazines and books. He was particularly well known for his depictions of Scotties. Dennis did the original illustrations for the Black and White Scotch ads. They were of Scotty dogs, of course. Morgan Dennis died in 1960.
